About The Rabbi

rabbijaneI’m a modern liberal Rabbi. I’m a Reform Jew and have been a member of a large Reform Congregation since I was a child.

As a part of my Jewish education, I learned about and visited houses of worship of other religious communities. I used to attend Midnight Mass on Christmas with my Catholic friends! Growing up in a diverse community, I became aware of and sensitized to the need for interfaith dialogue. As a Rabbi, I feel it is important to reach out and embrace interfaith couples as well as Jewish unaffiliated couples.

I bring to your celebrations and life cycle events: weddings; bar and bat mitzvahs; baby namings (b’rit bat and b’rit milah) my many years of experience working within the Jewish and interfaith communities.

I’ll make you a unique and beautiful wedding ceremony; study with your child and conduct a Bar or Bat Mitzvah; honor in the naming of your new born baby having a B’rit Milah or a B’rit Bat; engage with you in Jewish education to go through a conversion process and become a Jew by choice; and support you during the difficult times in your life when a family member is ill or passes away.

If you want to learn more about Judaism; or want to become a Jew by choice—to convert to Judaism—we will study together which will culminate in a beautiful celebration of your conversion where you will also receive a certificate.

I’m available for Jewish and Jewish/interfaith celebrations and will work with clergy of other faiths to be sure your celebrations or life cycle events meet your needs.

I have a master’s and doctoral degree in the social sciences in addition to being an ordained modern Rabbi. I have worked in related fields in many capacities and have also taught at all levels, including being an adjunct college professor.

All of my diverse life experiences instruct me in working with you to create a beautiful celebration; be it a wedding; or other life cycle event, that truly reflects you and your family with great respect for your faith traditions.

TESTIMONIALS (from WeddingWire.com)

“Rabbi Marsha was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to get to know us as a couple, and as people. She personalized our ceremony and did a wonderful job. People are still talking about the ceremony, and It’s 3 weeks later. I can’t wait to have her as part of future life events!!!”

“Rabbi Marsha helped to renew wedding vows for my daughter, Michelle and her husband Kenny. He wanted to do something special for their first anniversary and have Michelle renew her vows in her Jewish Faith. Rabbi Marsha worked with him to personalize the vows. Michelle felt like the Rabbi had known her for years instead of just getting information from a questionnaire. Everyone at the party was impressed with the ceremony and with Rabbi’s warmth. I will recommend Rabbi Marsha to anyone who needs to have an interfaith ceremony. They will not be disappointed.”

“Rabbi Marsha Jane worked with us to create a beautiful ceremony. It was so personal! Everyone commented that it felt like she’d known us for years. We enjoyed working with her and will definitely use her again for future life cycle events. We highly recommend Rabbi Marsha Jane.”
